The composer was hospitalised few days ago due to complications arising from a kidney infection
Singer-composer Wajid Khan of music director duo Sajid-Wajid, popular for their work on superstar Salman Khan’s films such as Wanted, Dabangg and Ek Tha Tiger, died in the wee hours of Monday in a city hospital due to complications arising from a kidney infection. He was 42.
Music composer Salim Merchant, who confirmed the news of Wajid’s death, said the composer was hospitalised few days ago at Surana Hospital, Chembur where his condition deteriorated.
“He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. But recently he got to know about kidney infection… He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical,” Salim told PTI
Sajid-Wajid started their career with Salman Khan starrer film “Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya” in 1998. The album of this film was one of the biggest hits of 1998.
The year 2020 has been a very saddening year for the Bollywood industry. Two versatile actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor passed away in April.
Sajid-Wajid started their career with Salman Khan starrer film “Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya” in 1998. The album of this film was one of the biggest hits of 1998.
In the recent years, Wajid, along with Sajid, had composed music for films such as Dabangg 3, Pagalpanti, Satyameva Jayate, Daawat-E-Ishq, Tevar and Heropanti. Wajid was also a singer, who lent his voice to many popular songs such as Tajdar-e-Haram from Satyameva Jayate, Rangreli from Daawat-e-Ishq, Baaki Sab First Class Hai from Jai Ho, PandeyJee Seeti from Dabangg 2, Mashallah from Ek Tha Tiger, Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita from Rowdy Rathore, Jalwa from Wanted and Soni De Nakhre from Partner.
The recently-released Salman Khan song, Bhai Bhai, is a Sajid-Wajid composition. The song, currently trending on No. 2 on YouTube, was released by Salman as an Eid treat for his fans.
